QNP - The Hoanh Bo spring flower festival opened this morning at Troi town in Hoanh Bo district.

The festival attracts a variety of locals and tourists.

Prominent among those at the opening ceremony were Deputy Chairman of the provincial People’s Council Nguyen Xuan Ky and Deputy Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Thanh.

On exhibition and for sale in 33 stalls is a wide range of flowers such as lily, tulip, orchid, sunflower, etc. and bonsai trees. Of which, orchids of different types are considered the key flower of the festival.

As planned, the spring flower festival will last until January 9.

The festival has lured thousands of locals and tourists not only to buy flowers but also to enjoy the colorful and beautiful spring scenes in flower gardens.

Though growing flowers has become a traditional profession in Hoanh Bo for years, it could not have brought profit to the locals until 2004. That was when the district government paid much attention to this profession and decided to set up an overall plan to increase the quality and quantity of flowers as well as promote the brand name of Hoanh Bo flowers.

Hoanh Bo district borders Ha Long city and Cam Pha town, the two big localities with dense population and high living standard in Quang Ninh provice. Taking the best use of this geographic advantage, Hoanh Bo has succeeded in taking its flowers to these markets and then other regions in the province. The district is also striving to bring this product to other markets outside the province.

Dong Che flower village covering about eight hectares is the biggest flower area in the district. In addition to traditional flowers, a range of expensive flowers namely lilies, orchids has been planted in glasshouses. Other places such as Le Loi, Thong Nhat, Dong Ho have recently started growing flowers of various types.

Located in Quang La commune, the 25-hectare eco-resort, the Quang La Flower Paradise invested by Tinh Hoa Green Agricultural and Pharmaceutical Co-operative, has attracted a huge number of tourists since its opening day in January, 2016./.
